چکیده

Abstract We investigate the specific attenuation factor for Bessel models of viscoelasticity. find that quality this class can be expressed in terms Kelvin functions and its asymptotic behaviours confirm analytical results found previous studies rheological properties these models.

Energy dissipation of a Brownian particle in a viscoelastic fluid.

We evaluate the energy dissipation rate of an optically driven Brownian particle in a polymer solution utilizing the generalized version of Harada and Sasa's equality [Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 130602 (2005)] by Deutsch and Narayan [Phys. Rev. E 74, 026112 (2006)]. The irreversible work of a small system is estimated from readily obtainable quantities. By adopting the time-dependent memory function ...

Instantaneous electric energy and electric power dissipation in dispersive media

We derive the instantaneous densities of electric energy and electric power dissipation in lossless and lossy dispersive media for a time-harmonic electric field. The instantaneous quantities are decomposed into DC and AC components, some of which are shown to be independent of the dispersion of dielectric constants. The AC component of the instantaneous energy density can be used to visualize ...

Energy dissipation and dispersion effects in granular media.

The strong interactions between particles will make the energy within the granular materials propagate through the network of contacts and be partly dissipated. Establishing a model that can clearly classify the dissipation and dispersion effects is crucial for the understanding of the global behaviors in the granular materials. For particles with rate-independent material, the dissipation effe...

Finite-energy, accelerating Bessel pulses.

We numerically investigate the possibility to generate freely accelerating or decelerating pulses. In particular it is shown that acceleration along the propagation direction z may be obtained by a purely spatial modulation of an input Gaussian pulse in the form of finite-energy Bessel pulses with a cone angle that varies along the radial coordinate. We discuss simple practical implementations o...
